All the Nusa Dua resorts are dreadful -- 5 star butlered ghettos. The problem is being gated apart from the world, great if you don't want to be in Bali but just want poorly made over-priced food served with white gloves on a silver tray

I was in Bali when W was just being finished, not yet open, and I thought it was promising though I would not stay there ... my own preference is to rent a much nicer pool villa, more privacy though less service ... all depends how you want to travel. Legian and W are much better than St. Regis or anything in Nusa Dua, as a point of comparison. Bali can be a great travel experience, in fact planning to buy a villa there now (something I wouldn't do in Thailand or Hawaii, etc. as a point of comparison).
