My wife and two other instructors are taking 18 college students for a week in New York and I am tagging along. We'll be staying in the upper west side and she'd like to buy the group's Metrocards the evening we arrive. (Get into JFK Terminal 5 around 3:30pm, figure by the time we get luggage, our charter vans, check it it will be evening.)

The question is, can the vending machines in the subway stations handle purchases of multiple Metrocards or are we going to have to do 22 transactions? We're concerned the credit card will start getting declined! I know I can buy multiple tickets here in LA on one transaction, but that is 2 people, not 22.
