Citibank, etc. pay for their miles 2.5cpm!? How will they then ever be break even when they have to pay 2,500 USD for 100,000 miles ie for their respective sign-up promos?

So it's way cheaper then to purchase the miles directly through a promotion ie from US Airways (I am aware of the fine print of the corporate purchased miles)...
