I have stopped over in CMB on BA back in 1979. Back in the days of 747-200s, BA used to fly MNL-KUL-CMB-AUH-LHR. Mother got rather excited buying sapphires at Duty Free that we were the last pax to reboard.

In these days of point-to-point flights, I am not sure how popular such flights would be. You would need to two close destinations like BAH-MCT or AUH-DOH

Is the tourism levels to CMB sufficient to justify the flights (even after the business pax are dropped off in CMB).

Another nearby destination would be Goa in terms of leisure travel in conjuction with Colombo. The Maldives are too far away.
