I had mine done at moorfields over 10 years ago as part of clinical trial for LASIK - so i only paid £800 per eye but had to commit to going back at 1 week, 2weeks, 1month,3m, 6m and 1year (which i think most people need regular checks anyway).

As others have stated, best thing i've EVER done. Was -4 in both eyes so almost glasses off last thing at night, glasses on when waking up.

Partner had theirs done 2 years ago at optical express, paid lots more (around £1500 per eye, and included the wave treatment. They suffer quite badly from glare esp car headlights and streetlamps which the wave stuff is supposed to reduce.

Moorfields were very good and i felt completely at ease/safe, however they frequently left me in waiting room beyond 2hours for my appointment time which wasnt great!

Sadly 10-ish years later my eyes have gone to about -0.75 so am considering doing it again. I suspect i'll get it done if i get any worse.

as pucci said - even with moorfields, things can still go wrong but these days i would expect most companies have sufficient controls in place that very little does actually go wrong and the risks are generally low.
