I flew from LAX to CUN on Mexicana in 1st class. It was an A320 and the seats were slightly better than a U.S. domestic flight. But it was only 4.5 hours.

Mexicana had great service when I flew them years ago. This time it was average and the food was so-so. Mexicana has no lounge at LAX or CUN.

Cancun airport, like a lot of other tourist-based airports, is loaded with con-artists. I just ignored everyone and made it through fine.

I used Starwood points to get a free room at Caesars Park in Cancun. Without asking they gave me an upgraded room with a 40 square foot private patio/sundeck. This hotel has excellent service.

Despite the average service on the flight, the trip was great. The Mayan Riviera is a wonderful place.
