Thank you so much for that helpful and informative post! I am glad to hear that we may be able to include Wrangell-St Elias as part of our trip and your proposed itinerary seems like a great way to do it.

One thing I am still unclear about is the route from Denali to Chitina - is the road that goes via Wasilla and Girdwood the Denali Highway? Or can we take this road without any prior permission from the rental car company?
