Might add a little perspective on this...
I am deaf as a post, so my eyesight is absolutely crucial to me - it's my communications link - I need my eyes to lipread people and to read subtitles on television.
However, I was blind as a bat without glasses - I am only amazed I didn't need them when asleep to see what I am dreaming. So I considered laser eye surgery. I never liked the eyedea.. er idea, of contact lens - I just cannot stand the thought of touching my eyes or anything and I was initially put off by the laser surgery process but thought what's five minutes of gritting my teeth to be free of my glasses!
Four years ago, I tried different clinics and get a feel of the staff there before settling on one for treatment. I had LASIK, which allowed for a faster recovery time although it was more expensive and a bunch of bells n whistles, eg, reduce night-time glare when driving at night. The results were instantaneous but some sensitivities for a few hours, felt like itching and then by the fifth hour, I was all fine and dandy.
It was absolutely worth it, but do your research, investigate the different options and clinics and surgeons who will be carrying out the procedure.
Good luck on whatever/however you decide!
