New York taxi drivers are the scariest drivers: more than once I've nearly asked the driver to stop and let me out.
We took a taxi ride from JFK to downtown Manhattan. The taxi driver not only drove safely, but he also gave us lots of tips about New York - what not to miss, how to use the subway, including how to stand in "safe areas" if using the subway at night. And he didn't overcharge. Mayb e he was a one-off, but we thought we were lucky.
On the other hand, the worst taxi driver we ever had was in Toronto. Not only did it look as if he lived in his taxi, but he also fell asleep at the wheel on the freeway, in a driving rainstorm! We woke him up and asked him to pull over, but there was nowhere to stop on the freeway. He charged a reasonable amount, but he got no tip!
