Bequia is great if you don't like resorts and prefer fantastic beaches, mingling with the locals and doing nothing but snorkelling, sunbathing and relaxing. It is well known to the yachting community so has some decent restaurants and the odd supermarket for those self catering, but is relatively cheap. The only hassle is getting there: either flights from Barbados/St Lucia or ferry from St Vincent, but this does ensure that you usually have miles of beach for yourself.
