Interesting question. I always think that Novotel and Mercure brand positioning is a bit awkward, they seem to compete with each other if they exisit in the same market as they position themselves to attract the same type of client base. Not much difference to talk about even though I think Accor is trying to position Mercure just slightly below Novotel, that's just my opinion. But I some Mercures are better than Novotel in certain cities, and vice versa.
