Looked around and did not find an answer but does the fare matter at all when upgrading to Delta as a MVPG? For example, if I'm on a Y (full fare) can I upgrade early on? or do higher fares get you higher on the upgrade list (as they do in AS)? etc?

Doing a HNL-SEA with DL in a couple of weeks and trying to guage the upgrade possibility, currently 15 seats opened in F and flight is a couple weeks from now but I wouldn't mind paying the Y fare for an instant upgrade or higher chance - not booked yet but AS' F is already full and the DL redeye would be a way better option anyhow.. I don't get why people love to spend all day on a plane when they could just sleep through it

Also, what's DL's "P" class? Is that how they label their F ?
