As I wait for my new BA Visa card to arrive, I'm trying to figure out the best way I can use the miles from SFO.

I've done some research already using The Points Guy's post as a helpful guide. Unfortunately, SFO isn't an AA hub and the QF73/QF74 Qantas route to Sydney no longer exists.

I don't think this leaves me with too many options. While under a 7 day free trial of ExpertFlyer, I tried to see what type of AA miles I could use for a trip down to Rio de Janeiro. There were reward flights were available for JFK and GIB, but I couldn't find any seats between JFK and SFO. And now as I type this out, i realize I probably should have searched for a possible DFW or LAX transfer, huh? Too bad my trial period's over...

I also saw that LAN flies to/from SFO, so I guess another possible way to use miles would be for multi-destination trip to Easter Island. However, it's been tough trying to use the BA site to find any availability.

Any help with routing or other potential ideas would be great. Thanks in advance!
