I was hoping to mainly go westbound for the whole trip, better for jet lag, etc. Also, for the transatlantic cruise, it is better to go westbound because during the crossing, you gain an hour of sleep almost every night :-)

Normally each autumn there are good deals on repositioning cruises from Barcelona to Sao Paulo, sometimes Italy to Sao Paulo also.
