Not true flying from the U.S. to TPE.
DL will check your luggage all the way through.
NO need to claim at LAX on way to TPE.
Be sure you have at least two hours between your arrival and the departure so your luggage has time to transfer.
When you check in at CI at LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal be sure to show them your luggage tags.
It is about a 10 minute walk from DL to the International Terminal. Or you can take a bus that loops around all the terminala. That could take about 20 minutes.
If you are returning the same route you MUST claim your luggage at LAX to clear customs. If CI on the return checks you luggage all the way through with a MSP tag you can re-check your luggage at LAX after customs at a re-check area so you do not have to lug it over to DL. Depending on your arrival time at LAX it can take an hour to clear immigration and wait for your luggage.
