) - Lugano is a short hop over the Alps from Zurich, while not over Mont Blanc or Matterhorn you should still see plenty of mountains, and depending on how you can book it, it might not even be inconvenient as Tessin (Ticino) is also very good for hiking and should be included in any trip to Switzerland.. plus Pizza/Pasta ^
I´m with this. Saves money and takes you right over the alps. These flights are operated by Saab 2000s, short and low. Starting my trip to BKK in LUG myself this summer. If you start from ZRH, you can still drop your luggage with LX at the day of travel to avoid schlepping it over to LUG. The train ride from ZRH to LUG is also very nice, via the Gotthard route. If you take the IR train from ZRH and transfer in Bellinzona, wiht first class tickets you will get into the panoramic car.
