Wrong! Again, finding metal is what metal detectors are for. Making millions take off their shoes for an occasional "catch" is not only inconvenient, it is putting more people at risk of foot injury than actually protecting them against violence.
And the proof that it is unnecessary comes from the fact that every day thousands of people fly over US territory without every having removed their shoes. This includes people who board abroad, such as myself. US-owned airliners gate check us for water bottles, but we fly through without ever having removed our shoes. Scary isn´t it? Not.
(Plus, bullets can now be taken through whole body scanners undetected, inside cavities or under folds...)
