Thanks to everyone for all your responses. Yes, in the future, I will only use my miles for international travel. But I'm new to the game and wanted to get a little reward for all this work I've been doing. I had to take the original route because I got it for 25,000 miles and everything else would have cost me 50,000. Yeah, DCA was the only airport to fly from because it's next door to my sister's neighborhood. In the future, I plan on saving up the miles for an international flight where I can get more bang for my buck. Thanks again!
