My experience going into SIN is that the landing, more often than not, is to the north. YMMV. Given that, I would sit on the port side so you can have a wonderful view of the tankers and freighters at anchor off the shore. A view of downtown, even though it would be to the west of the airport, would be unlikely given the distance and usual haze.
