I fear you may not get the extra Tier Points or miles. I claimed these on a flight which I upgraded last month and received the following message from BA:

"American Airlines's records confirm that you received a promotional upgrade to Business Class. While this allows you to enjoy the benefits of this class on-board, the terms of the upgrades state that BA Miles and Tier Points are earned as per your original booking."
