In my recollection, one would want to stay on the right side of the plane when landing at LAS, for the views of the Las Vegas strip (it seems like the approach usually comes in that way regardless of the direction from which one is initially traveling). I would say the same for DXB, for a city view, which has been on the right-hand side for every flight that I can remember.
