If I were feeling truly daring, I would do DCA-EWR-LAX in CO F. They have a great transcon F product... better than UA's by steps and bounds. Steak, ice-cream sundaes, courses, and all that jazz.
And potentially get stuck in the traffic mess of EWR?

From ORD-LAX the A320 will have in flight audio, video(?), and a 'snack' [box]. Depending on your travel dates, and flexibility I would try to catch a 752 or the once weekly 763 which frequently yield a bigger or hot 'snack'. Or go DCA-ORD-SFO-LAX and catch the 772 from ORD to SFO; that will be fun. It will also give you more RDM for future upgrades.

Good luck

The A320 will have pre-recorded songs from Zune Player, a movie, some short subject programming (office, hawaii five-0, etc), and a meal in F, not a snack box.
