Air Canada and Avianca Taca announced that they will begin operating with a "shared code" on all flights starting on May 12.

Code sharing allows both companies to market segments by combining flights on both airlies under one ticket.

The agreement is part of a mainstreaming process that is taking place in Avianca Taca in becoming a member of the "Star Alliance", which services 27 member airlines.

Initially to be included in the code share are Air Canada's destinations of Montreal (YUL), Vancouver (YVR), Edmonton (YEG), Ottawa (YOW) and Calgary (YYC) with connections to TACA.
