Be especially careful when booking Gallup, NM motels. My brother just stayed in a very sad one nationally branded one. The review is posted on tripadvisor. It was miserable, and there are several other motels with even worse ratings.

Signs post a rate, but when one inquires it turns out that rate is only for x-room, not the type one has requested. However a more expensive room is available at a higher rate.....

And then there are cleanliness issues, functionality issues, attitude issues, etc.
