That's what I thought as well. The OP is a bit late with this post.

I don't know the yields on the AMS-BKK route, but I'm assuming it's a mostly tourist route, and I assume it would not be on KLM's priority list to get really nice aircraft. If it were up to me I'd only fly on A330s but with the refurbishments in place KLM's fleet of 747s (both 744s and combis) are totally fine.
