I rented twice with Avis Preferred (LAS and AKL). You needed to stop by a dedicated counter to pick up the prepared paperwork (there was no line but there could have been one). The rental went like this: Get off bus, get paperwork from counter, get to car, and drive off. (Is this the norm for Avis?)
With Hertz, the paperwork is in the car. Get off bus, look for name on board, get to car, and drive off. No line whatsoever.</font>
It really depends on the Avis location. @ EWR, the paper is in the car and you don't need to go to the counter. However, I generally think Hertz has nicer cars than Avis. National sometimes has nice cars like the Nisssan Altima + Maxima, 4Runner, etc.
Is there a code where you can get a free year of membership with Hertz?
