Yeah, once this REALLY hurt me. Earlier this year, I got one of those very cheap rates that requires keeping the car over a Saturday night. I landed (in New Orleans) as scheduled at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday and went to the Hertz station.

Doing me the usual favor, they had already set up the rental with a pickup time of 12:01 a.m. Whoops! Now the Saturday-night stay was gone, and the rate tripled. The poor girl on duty -- alone -- struggled with Hertz on the phone for almost an hour trying to fix this. Nobody could put Humpty-Dumpty back together again.

When we finally figured out what had happened, the ONLY solution apparently was to write comments in the record and adjust the rate on return. This was handled correctly, but it added to my dropoff time, obviously.

No good deed goes unpunished!
