The only value proposition of paying union dues is that they will fiercely protect the employees interest in both collective bargaining as well as any kind of employment action specific to the employee. Yes, it is very hard to remove a senior UA FA from a position. It takes a ridiculous level of documentation and process. All of which the union will resist each step of the way. As they must to ensure their own relevance.
