Ah, yes, the famous People Movers.
I wonder if they are ever going to get rid of them on arrival, as they FINALLY (after 45 years) got rid of them for departures, replaced by the pretty new train. It only took 'em about 20 years to build that and the new walkways underground to the closer terminals. Sigh.
Finally, too. Just a couple of years ago they still had the people mover take you to the concourse, and I swear the exit from that was about 10 miles from the entrance to the BA lounge! Now it's about 10 steps. Vast improvement, yippee.
Has anybody noticed how much the New Train area looks exactly like the one at T5? It's eerily similar.
On arrival, they always bring us to that same gate, then we are trapped like insects behind glass as we are sent down the ramp to the awaiting people mover, all the rest of the airport on the other side of the glass (i.e. The United States, as opposed to us in Temporary International Limbo) until reaching the customs hall and passing through.
It's a bit of a non-Business/First sort of arrivals experience.
But kids seem to enjoy the novelty. But first-time IAD arrivals always look extremely confused perplexed once they get on board.....after the driver has reminded them in a loud voice (move all the way down!!!!)
