Context is important
Around 8 years ago, A330s appeared with NWA. Over the next 3-4 years they replaced the tired and aged DC10-30s. The DC-10s were rough in J, and brutal in Y. The A330 was a game changer as the product went from 1970/80s to 2000s. Many ex-NWA fliers would route through DTW to get on one of the A330s. If you weren't around NWA at the time, it's hard to understand it. There was a feeling that we'd earned the new ride after years of pain.
The difference between the A330 and B764 is much less, but most will prefer the lie flats (I do), and AVOD continues to advance.
FWIW, Air Canada undertook its XM program around 5-6 years ago. Their entire international WB fleet now provides lie flat J suites and nose to tail AVOD (their NB fleet is also very well appointed). There is very little difference between their A330 and B767/777 fleets IMO.
I predict little difference between the B764 and A330 once lie flats and new AVOD are installed.
