It would be impossible to have status and to have your miles expire, surely, because if you'd earned no BA Miles in 3 years then you would have no status. Even if you started out as Gold you'd have dropped to Blue before the 3 years was up.
If any of the members of a Household account has status it will keep all other members of the account from having their miles expire, even if one of those members has no activity for 3 years.
