I'm current status nada, sans status ... AA cargo

but with timing of LAX/SFO DEQM promotion and Platinum Challenge:
1) will make Gold mid/late-May (depending on timing of sweep of DEQM)
2) will make Platinum first week of June based on Plat Challenge

My question is what can I expect will become of waitlist priority on
1) mid-June HNL R/T from DFW where my wife and I are waitlisted Miles+co-pay - put on waitlist in early Apr
2) late-Aug return trip from FRA where we're waitlisted eVIP from an Exec Plat's acct in the family - put on waitlist in early Mar

In reading the various threads on waitlists, it sounds like "time served" on waitlist counts toward your chances of clearing, but if a change is status is applied to the itinerary in the interim (presuming status affects the types of waitlists above), does the original timing when we were waitlisted get lost in the process? ... i.e., if I apply my Plat status to the itineraries in early June, does the priority get re-established as if I was put in waitlist in June?
