Tested the system extensively last week and didn't register my middle initial at all. No one gives a hoot.

APIS (stored separate from SFPD): I even made a 'mistake' with my passport number in the APIS and on the white form, no problem either. The CBP officer swiped my passport and all the visa details including the picture I gave when applying for the E1 visa came up on his screen.
