My favorite turndowns:
1. Excursion-turned it down. Got an Escape with 24 miles on it at SJC....did sales calls, drove to the Embassy Suites for the night, then got in it at 5:30AM to go back to SJC for a 7AM flight out...only to have the alarm malfunction and go off (couldn't get it to shut off no matter what) all the way back to SJC....out of the hotel parking lot (hey, everyone, wake up 'n see my neat rental car!), down to the 101, down the 101, all the way into the SJC lot where the returns clerk came out and proceeded to pull all the fuses out, to no avail....I got on the Hertz bus and pulled away 5 minutes later with the alarm still going off around a crowd of 8 or 9 Hertz people...a guy in the bus asked me what I did to it....
2. The dreaded Mercury Grand Marquis, also known as the Darth Vader of rental cars...last turndown at ORD got me a Sable w/ leather & sunroof. Easier to handle in my book, though it doesn't frighten Chicago cab drivers the way the Grand Marq or Excursion does.
3. The equally dreaded Crown Vic...last turndown at PHX got me a brand new Maxima....
