So there I was this morning ambling into DCA to pick up what I thought would be the usual Taurus, Sable or possibly if I was really lucky a Camry! Walking down the line of vehicles I kept looking for my space .. in the distance all I could see were SUVs! I finally arrive at my appointed spot, to find ... the monster of all monsters: a Ford Excursion!!! I am not usually one to chicken from a challenge, but this one was a little beyond me. I enjoy driving all sorts of vehicles, including several SUVs -- and have been very lucky with a couple of very nice BMWs in Dublin (my home town ) and a gorgeous Alfa Romeo 164 in Milan -- but taking a look around this behemoth, I thought to myself "not for me"!!! Back to the Gold Booth I went. I thanked the woman there for the upgrade, but begged for a smaller and more mangeable vehicle (secretly hoping of course that a nice Volvo or similar would be forthcoming ). No such luck! She offered me a Camry, which I happily took. Now, what is the point of all this rambling you are probably asking yourself?!! Out of curiousity, how many of you good folks out there have actually taken the challenge -- through choice or by luck of upgrade -- and driven an Excursion?
