It may be a good idea if you indicate which part of the year you are making this trip as Chiang Mai can get terribly hot & Phuket can rain continously for days during certain seasons.
And your kids love monkeys ? They have been helping themselves to my fruit basket & even taking chocolate bars from my mini-bar in Langkawi !

We actually plan to be in CM Dec. 23-26, so we will be there for Christmas, which is a Sunday...it is my understanding that things in Thailand will be operating as if a normal day? Is there anywhere we could go for services as, well, it would be kinda nice just to acknowledge the day...
Oh, and my kids would find that hysterical that the monkeys are taking your food! They would probably want to feed them!
Thanks!
Jennifer
Monkeys can be quite aggressive. They can snatch things from your hands. If you resist, the monkey will likely win. I have a bite on my forearm to prove it.
feeding the monkeys is not doing them a favour. You are setting them up for dependency and conflict with their human cousins.
Summary: Europe--dogs, Asia-monkeys. America centric? not at all.
