RTW planning - how long is too long?
I am looking at a few potential mini-RTW itineraries (no TPAC), and am wondering if I should schedule the Europe stop before or after the Asia stops. The differences in trip length would be considerable: if I include the Europe stop on the westbound return, then I would have 4 segments on the eastbound with a travel time of more than 48h before the first stop, including layover/potential lounge time of about 3h in ORD, 12h in FRA FCT, and 7h in ICN. If I do the Europe stop first, the the westbound return will be long - 3 segments with more than 36 hours of travel, including 5h layover in ZRH and 4h in YUL. While I would welcome the opportunity to lounge in the FCT, I am not sure if I want to start a fairly short trip to SE Asia in winter with a 48h haul. What are your thoughts?
