DEN is an island of sanity in TSA's ocean of inanity

Denver International Airport, May 2, 6:30 am: I arrived for an 8:30 United flight to LGA. Already had boarding pass (printed at hotel). Put wallet deeply into carry-on bag, took out expired NJ driver's license (expired August 31, 2010) and headed for the elite security line. It wasn't too crowded early on a Monday morning.

TDC guy was quiet and polite. Didn't say one word about the expired ID, which of course satisfies TSA's rules because it's not expired for a year or more. Just stamped the boarding pass, and I headed to the far left lane, which is for "expert" travelers and has no NOS. (Remember that for SDOO.)

The passenger two in front of me was dreadfully slow, but after he moved on, the guy directly in front of me and I zipped through the WTMD. No bag checks, no barking. Just attentive silence.

Got my shoes and bags at the other side of the machine. Sat down to tie my shoes, and I was ready to go. I stopped by the supervisor's stand to compliment the guy in charge on how professionally he was running the shift. He appreciated the comment.

Once in a while, I have something nice to say -- and do!
