The conventional wisdom has been that A fares were mostly responses to AirTran, and P fares are the "monetized" fares.

There are certainly some decent P fares, including HSV-FAI which is ironic. That P fare will cost Delta money, as my company pays for domestic F on that route. But the company will gladly take the lower fare.
