I've been searching for car hire for next week when Mrs CC and Master CC come to the UK. Option 1 was to drive "Rangie" from Prague to Scotland but after understanding the attention span of a 6mths old we've decided to fly and hire. I checked out Avis/BA priority but on comparing the cost vs the "standard" Avis charges, priority seems to be £30ish more expensive than standard charge. If I use my Gold card on Avis.com, I reduce the standard charge via the discount and so the gap increases.

How well does this service work now ? £30+ is obviously the convenience charge.

and if I'm paying for the privilege, where's the benefit ?
