One of my favorite destinations in the world. I loved it. Travel around a bit though. So much to see. I would go for it.

I agree that the visa situation in India is a bit complicated. As long as you don't have to leave the airport, it is fine. Otherwise you better get a travel visa with multiple entry. A missed flight with no visa can ruin your plans.

My guess is that you will be alright in BLR since it is open all night and quite well run but MAA has more direct flights to CMB. If you want to avoid this you can fly via SIN or HKG but redemptions will be few and far between. Another option is DXB but that leaves you a long flight.
