From what I've heard, JNB makes LHR seems organised in respect to luggage. Last moth had stuff stolen from my bags travelling from Maun to JNB.
I also had a stuff stolen from my luggage on a Maun to JNB flight at the very start of this year. Thankfully in my case it was only a blackberry.
I went to the JNB airport police station at lunchtime on 3 January to report the loss for insurance purposes. I got speaking to the policeman, who looked in the book, and told me that there had already been 130 reports of theft from luggage at the airport so far in 2011 (ie. from 1 January to lunchtime on 3 January - 130 police reports in a period of 2 and a half days).
