I'm planning a trip from LAX-LHR in October and am trying to decide what routing would maximize odds for later conversion from coach should seats open up. Anyone have any stats or anecdotal experience as to which hubs would be more likely to have that happen, or is it all just a big mystery? Another option I'm considering is using a SWA award (possibly the day before) to get me to either ORD or DFW. That way I'd be available for all flights the next day that might have seats open. Leaving from LAX would eliminate some of the earlier connections that might have seats.
