I am afraid not. When KA operates the three-class Type 1 Airbus 330-300 (33R, 33Q) for flights where F Class is not sold, it often opens up the F Cabin for J Class passengers and the rear J Class cabin for Y Class passengers. In such circumstances, one has the chance of being offered an "upgraded" seat with the original class of food and service.

From my experience, the "upgraded" seats are available for advanced reservation by elite tier members (and their companions) until on-line check-in opens when they are up for grabs by all passengers.

I believe this arrangement has been in place for at least a few years.
