I was able to find the flights as well. Be sure to use the 'advanced search' option and tell the system to show you 50 flights in the results.
Also, since you have 38K, if you wanted to, you could do the 3:30pm flight SNA-EWR and then pay the 25K to do direct EWR-SNA on the return for a total of 37,500 miles. Or, as mentioned above, booking the USAir flights through PHX will only cost you a total of 25K.
