An airplane is a machine, older machines get worn with age (fact), and unreliable as they age. You can maintain it all you want, it's still getting worn.

What are the current dispatch rates for the PMCO and PMUA fleets? I suspect maintenance is way more significant than aircraft age given the moderate (40%) difference in aircraft age.
