It seems that anyone renting a Hertz in Alabama between 10/02/92 and 7/31/99 is entitled to a refund of the "Tax Recovery Charge" via a class action lawsuit (Rosalind Davis Meyer vs Hertz, civil action no. cv-2000-906-GR). Hertz records show me as only having one rental during that time, so it's probably not worth but a buck or two for me at the most, but I'm mailing in the claim form anyway.
