I think you've got a point about the long stays and upgrades on long stays, which is a bit of a shame for hotels, since long stays is what generates much revenue. Fairmont is concentrating on one and two nighters.. and I personally feel the bent to cut my stays shorter because of the enormous amount of nights to qualify in the loyalty program. 20 nights can creat two platinum profiles, and I've been doing 30 nights plus my wife doing 30 nights for awhile now.
My wife is officially approved for AMEX Platinum card.. so we'll get her 5 nights in here at Mayakoba or even before.. The plan is for me to get an AMEX Platinum card next year two, and cut down on the amount of nights. We are planning to do at least 20 nights a year together as a family.. Just within two or three stays qualifying continually.
The two weekers are history.. and cashing in on my 7 suite upgrades that we've got this year, and unloading em.
