OP doesn't say if s/he earns PC status with room nights or points. Ambassador comes with Gold PC status, RA with Plat. However, as noted anyone earning RA will have the same number of nights as are required for Plat PC status, but earning Gold with nights is many times harder than doing it with points given the bonuses and such that count towards status. I agree, OP should get this commitment for Plat status in writing, in an email, not rely on verbal assurance since we know what that can be worth given the mis-information too many call centre agents give out.
