Whenever I have had the exit row briefing, the duties have typically included following orders given by the captain or crew, opening and removing the emergency exit door when given the evacuation order, checking for fire, smoke or debris that would make using your particular exit hazardous and directing passengers to use other exits if your exit is considered dangerous.
